(hear
the song)
I pledge to liberty and justice and the land where our
fathers died
Died for freedoms too precious to just set some of them aside
Now we're running scared and we're running right off the track
I want my country back
The Gulf of Tonkin and the Reichstag fire - this has been done
before
But our memories are short and seeking truth is such a bore
You'll keep retelling a lie till enough folks take it for fact
I want my country back
This used to be the land of the free
We were proud it was the home of the brave
Now trash the economy
And blame it all on some guy in a cave
Now daddy's little boy is gonna show that he's a man
He wants to finish daddy's job - he's gonna nail Saddam
Now I don't like the man either but that won't justify an attack
I want my country back
This used to be the home of the brave
We were proud it was the land of the free
Long may it wave
We're not traitors 'cause we disagree
You can soften up a picture by smearing Vaseline on the lens
But I still see Robin Hood in reverse selling us out to your friends
Why are you sneaking around under that misnamed Patriot Act
I want my country back
My country 'tis of thee
Sweet land of liberty
Of thee I sing….
